TICINO DUE, DENIA 966424479
Italian restaurant in a rush
Ticino Due is located at the corner of Avenida Joan Fusta and Carre de Diana near the railway line on the south side of Denia. It is part of the Groupo El Raset.
Although Italian in name, the cuisine of Ticino Due could more accurately be described perhaps as Mediterranean. This is a modern glass and chrome restaurant and there is a wooden structure in the street outside that seems to operate as an overflow.
There was a menu del día on offer at €10.50 but we chose to go for the Tapas menu which was priced at €15 not including drinks.
We started with a tasty onion soup and this was quickly followed by what was listed as a Greek salad.
Carpaccio of beef then appeared and before that was consumed we were served croquettes of chicken and mushrooms.
The service was certainly efficient but not particularly warm. Indeed we had to ask our Russian server to slow down the pace as otherwise our lunch would have been completed in under an hour.
The house wines, a Rueda called Viña Garedo and a Rioja called Viña Cumbrero, were both acceptable albeit somewhat pricey at 19.90.
Our tapas continued with an outstanding dish of mussels before our main course of secreto de cerdo with a mushroom sauce was presented. This was tasty but could have been a bit warmer.
For dessert there was a choice of cheesecake or brownie and those us of that chose the latter, declared it to be the best brownie ever and the cost of our lunch amounted to €25.50 p.p.
