CASA MANOLO, SENIJA 965730280
Senija is a small village on the way from Benissa leading into the Val de Pop and a brief detour into the centre by the church can be a rewarding experience, not least because of the exceptional value being offered at Casa Manolo.
This restaurant has changed hands many times over the past decade but is now back with the family that started it. The décor is functional and rustic and here you can have a three course lunch including a half bottle of wine for just €10.
There is a choice of five starters – fresh salad, gaspacho, melon and Serrano ham, Pelotas (meatballs wrapped in cabbage) or spaghetti carbonara. All good and served up in hearty portions.
There are four main courses – calamares romano, merluza (hake), liver and onion or fillet of pork.
We shared a selection of desserts and so our coffees were extra. The house wine was called Los Señores and was perfectly acceptable. All in all including brandies our lunch cost just €14.30 p.p. which has to be exceptional value.
